There's multiple places that you can add a lock. This is important to note, as adding them in different places will have different effects. We've got an article that speaks to Lock Hierarchy that's a great starting point before adding a lock.
That guide in mind, we're going to start this process via the Locations tab in your account. You'll select the Location you'd like to add a Lock to, and on the next page you'll see the Location Details tab. Here you can click the "Add Lock" button in the top right hand corner to start the process.
Here you'll get a modal with two choices. You can "Setup Locally" & "Setup On Site".
The biggest difference here is that "Setup On Site" allows you to send the code to add a lock to someone who is not be at the location where the locks will be managed. Alternatively if the person with the lock is on site, they can "Setup Locally". For this example we'll walk through "Setup Locally".
- Click "Setup Locally"
- Here, you'll need to identify which type of lock you have, and click the corresponding option. Here, we'll choose "WiFi Enabled Lock".
- Enter the name of the WiFi network you're using and password. Click "Continue".
- Optionally, you can give your lock a specific name and add an External ID. If you don't need to make this something custom, click "Continue".
- Scan the QR Code on the subsequent screen.
Once you've scanned the QR code the LED on the bottom of the lock will turn Green, and when the connection process is completed you'll hear three audible beeps from the lock. Refresh the Location Details page, and you'll be able to see the newly added lock at the bottom of the page.
