Firmware 01.90.18 Release Notes
Built for the next generation
Firmware 01.90.18 expands BoxLock’s hardware foundation with support for new processor and modem configurations while improving lock reliability in the field. This release is especially important for newer device builds and customers operating in low-connectivity environments where dependable cellular behavior matters most.
What’s new
New hardware support
This release adds firmware support for BoxLock’s newest lock hardware configurations, including:
- New processor support for updated device builds
- New modem support for updated cellular hardware
- Compatibility work needed to bring newer lock batches onto the current firmware path
This keeps the firmware line current across legacy and next-generation hardware, so newer devices can be updated, tested and deployed through the same release process.
Better field reliability
Firmware 01.90.18 includes reliability improvements intended to help locks perform more consistently during open, close and reporting flows.
This came directly out of field troubleshooting where devices on older firmware were reported as inconsistently opening, closing or reporting their closed state. The recommendation was to move test devices from 1.80.14 to 01.90.18 because the updated firmware should materially help with those issues.
Improved update path
This release also helps prepare devices for the normal auto-update process.
Devices can generally auto-update once enabled and charging, but the current field discussion noted that some devices need to be upgraded to this release first before they can continue through that automatic update path.
Operational notes
- Devices on older firmware, especially 1.80.14, should be prioritized for update when troubleshooting inconsistent open, close or closed-state reporting.
- For field validation, start with one or two affected devices before updating a broader fleet.
- Devices should be enabled and charging to support the update process.
- If a device is not yet eligible for auto-update, upgrade it to this release first.
This release makes BoxLock stronger in the places that matter most … the field, the jobsite and the moment a user needs the lock to work.
