In certain situations you may need to force a lock to use it's WiFi antenna instead of the LTE antenna, and vice versa. This guide speaks to that process, and provides the materials necessary.
Required Tools
- Lightblue Explorer
- A BoxLock that is Connected and Online
- Step 1 : Open Lightblue & Identify/Select the BoxLock
- Step 2: Navigate to the 4th service, the first characteristic
- Step 3: Select the option to "Write New Value"
- Step 4: Enter the command and tap "Done"
Step 1 : Open Lightblue & Identify/Select the BoxLock
Once you've got Lightblue downloaded you'll want to open the app and select the lock you're using. You can identify the lock based on the value you seen in Lightblue. For example, in the following screenshot we can see that the lock we're looking for is BoxLock 0020A4
. When we check the back of the lock, we'll see that the Mac Address ends in 0020A4, that same string of characters.
To make the lock appear in the app, hold down the button on the lock for about 5 seconds, until you hear a single BEEP. This will activate the lock, and make it readable by the Lightblue app.
Step 2: Navigate to the 4th service, the first characteristic
Here we'll use the app to navigate to the 4th service, and the first characteristic. Those are going to be as follows.
Service : UUID: 1747E83-A5B8-11E5-A837-0800200C9A66
Characteristic : 0xA1747E84-A5B8-11E5-A837-0800200C9A66
Step 3: Select the option to "Write New Value"
Step 4: Enter the command and tap "Done"
Here we'll enter the specific command and hit done. To update the firmware to the version we need, we'll enter the command "C0"
Once you hit "Done" the LED on the bottom of your lock should flash red, then blue, then you’ll see a series of flashing red lights. After the red lights, the light will cycle several times. The lock will reboot and disconnect.
Please don’t disrupt this process. You’ll see it cycle through blue and green.
Once the LED is off, the lock will be switched over to WiFi. From here you can connect the lock in Control via WiFi and use it as normal!
