In some cases you'll need to update the lock to operate on a different cellular band than the default setting. We've got a list of the supported bands and the countries they work in shared below.
Cellular CoverageGetting Started
That said, it's important to know how to do this in Control as well! To start, you'll want to login to your Control account, and navigate to the Locks tab.
Here, you can manage any of the locks that are connected to your account. Click on the lock you'd like to manage and we'll arrive on the Lock Detail Page.
Once here, you'll see a "Lock Settings" drop down next to the "Push to Unlock" button. Click that button, and in the drop down select "Update Network".
Updating your lock's Network
From here you'll be presented with three options.
- Update Wifi - Changes Wifi Network
- Update Connectivity - Changes lock Connectivity Type (WiFI or Cellular)
- Update Cellular Networks - Changes the Cellular band(s) used & Network Type
For our example we'll click option three, "Update Cellular Networks". Then, we're presented with the following screen.
Here you can change the band the lock is using, as well as if the lock is attempting to use LTE-M or NB-IoT. When yo select the new cell band, you can de-select the previously used band. The default band is 12. I
Once you've selected the appropriate band and information for your use case, you'll need to enter the password that you use to login to Control and click Submit. The next screen will share a QR code that you'll need to scan in order to change the bands being used by the device.
After scanning, you'll need to make sure to reboot the lock by holding down the button for 15 seconds, and then releasing the button. This helps complete the process, and without doing it we won't see the lock change the bands it's using to connect.
That's it!
You've now successfully changed the band used by your BoxLock to connect to cellular networks.
